On March 30, 2016 an EF-2 tornado blazed a 20 mile path from North Tulsa through Owasso and finally lifting in Valley Park, causing 7 injuries and damaging several homes and businesses. Being only 7 miles north of where we live, we were given the unique ability to respond immediately. We spent three days meeting homeowners, assessing damage, and helping meet people’s needs. It was an incredible time for us to make an impact and build relationships in our own community.
Madeline Grace Update!
Madeline is continuing to amaze doctors with her growth and weght gain. At her last visit she weighed 8lbs. 12oz. and was 20-1/4” long. We are excited as she continues to close in on her growth chart and will soon be the same size as others her age. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for her continued health and growth. She is truly doing awesome!
Recently we were able to begin some service projects in the Tulsa community. We are helping people get their homes in better shape without draining their bank accounts. Our vision is to help those who need a little help and may not qualify for assistance through other groups or organizations. This has been a long time dream of ours.
We took on several projects to help homeowners do repairs and remodel work on their homes. We were able to help remodel a kitchen, re-glaze glass on basement windows, rebuild a rotten picture window, and repair a broken door frame. This experience has been an overwhelming blessing to not only the people we served, but also to us and our volunteers
Meet Betty! She is one of the people that we were blessed to help during our Tulsa Serve Week. She is an 80 year old widow on a fixed income. She recently moved back into the home she raised her family in. Previous renters had left the place in disrepair and in need of expensive remodel work. Because of this, her home has a laundry list of things that need to be done. She puts each project on hold until she has the needed finances to complete repairs one task at a time. She recently had the electrical box updated by an electrician who was willing to work with her on a payment schedule, which was a huge blessing to her.
We have already been able to fix a kicked in door, patch some drywall, and rebuild a rotted picture window. Through these projects, God has been speaking clearly to us about continue to help. We are currently working to get an accurate budget to complete most of these much needed repairs, including several new windows to replace broken ones, rebuilding a chimney so she can safely use her fireplace for heat, roof repairs (with a possible replacement), fixing two other windows with rot in the wall beneath them, drywall fixes and patches, and a handicap ramp to the front door.
You can help! There are several ways you can get involved. You can become a financial supporter. By doing so you make it possible to purchase needed materials and supplies.
You can become a volunteer. If you live in the Tulsa area, we would love to have you come out and give us a hand. If you live in Tulsa and own a construction type business, such as heat, electrical, roofing, etc., we could really use some expert help. Would you be willing to donate some time in the area of your expertise?
You can also become a prayer partner for this project. You will have the opportunity to pray for specific needs as we continue to work through this project. There are several ways to get involved with this awesome program. Drop us a line at email@example.com to let us know how you would like to help.
